Steward Spotlight: Madison Partida Nischan Service Corporation International (SCI)

| October 5, 2021
Local 727 is excited to introduce our newest Steward – Funeral Director Embalmer Madison Partida Nischan. Madison is part of the Service Corporation International (SCI) bargaining unit and it is notable that this is the first steward the group has had in eight years.

Madison works out of Drake and Sons Funeral Home on the north side of Chicago and has been a licensed Funeral Director since 2016. She attended Worsham Mortuary School in Wheeling, IL and has worked in the Funeral Industry since 2012. Madison’s hobbies include writing, ukulele, cooking, and bouldering. She is a longtime supporter of Arsenal Football Club and has attended live games in London to cheer them on.

Madison was on the Local 727 bargaining committee for the recent SCI contract negotiations which took 15 bargaining sessions with North America’s largest funeral corporation over the course of eight months. Madison was a strong voice in helping the Union’s committee address the gross disparities within the pay plan that disproportionately affected women and younger members of the bargaining unit. The new agreement works to fix these inequalities by establishing a wage progression.

Welcome aboard, Madison!
