Local 727 Secures PPO Health Care Plan Option for Reyes Mechanics
On day one of negotiations, Teamsters Local 727 made it clear to representatives of Reyes Fleet Management, a subsidiary of Reyes Holdings, LLC, that health care improvements are a top priority for mechanics. The Union bargaining committee has continued to stress in each bargaining session that a fair contract must include adequate, affordable health care.
Yesterday during the parties’ bargaining session, Local 727 succeeded in negotiating the inclusion of a PPO health care plan in the first collective bargaining agreement covering Reyes mechanics.
“Because we stood united and remained firm in our demand for health care improvements, Reyes mechanics will—for the first time ever—have access to a PPO health care plan,” said Caleen Carter-Patton, Lead Business Representative for Reyes mechanics. “We’re pleased that the Company has at last heard its employees and finally agreed to work with the Union to find an affordable health care solution for mechanics and their families.”
Local 727 and Reyes will continue to negotiate the details of the new PPO health care plan when the parties resume negotiations in one week on Wednesday, October 9.
