First 727 Contract with Paid Paternity Leave

The Teamsters Local 727 Bargaining Committee and Fleischmann’s Vinegar management reached unanimous agreement on a new five-year contract for warehouse employees. Members will receive the largest wage increase in Fleischmann’s history retroactive to May 1, 2017.

“I’m tremendously proud of our bargaining team for all their diligence in reaching this agreement,” said John Coli, Jr., President of Local 727. “Not only is it the richest contract in Fleischmann’s history, it also marks the first contract of Local 727’s with paid paternity leave.”

Highlights of the new master agreement include a 25% higher wage increase than the last contract, which is a $0.50/hour wage increase for all classifications; a $1,000 ratification bonus; and six paid sick and/or personal days for each employee, which if unused are paid at the end of the calendar year. Employees are also to receive one week of paid maternity and/or paternity leave each year; an improved health care plan with 90% coverage; and a 14% increase to their 401k.

“As a progressive union, we take great pride in being able to negotiate paid leave for both new moms and dads,” said Coli. “Our members work hard year-round and they deserve benefits like this.”
