Teamsters Local 727 Stands in Solidarity with All Striking Workers

| January 30, 2026

Teamsters Local 727 would like to express solidarity with all workers participating in the General Strike today declared in protest of the extrajudicial killings of American Citizens and those on American soil who are entitled to our same inalienable rights. We know the only thing that has created lasting change in this country is when working people withhold our labor. From the Sanitation Strikes in Memphis, to the Miners Strikes in Appalachia, and the Haymarket uprisings here in Chicago which won all workers things like the 8-hour workday, the weekend, and Child Labor Laws, change comes when working people stand up to money and power.

“We are proud to stand in full support and solidary with striking workers. As Teamsters we understand the power collective action has in finally achieving change. However, as long as we have members who are working, our office will remain open to protect Teamsters and enforce their rights, under collective bargaining agreements and the law. To the workers on strike, let your voices be heard loudly, stand strong, and stay safe!” said John Coli, Jr. Teamsters Local 727 Secretary-Treasurer.

We are not asking members of Teamsters Local 727 bargaining units scheduled to work today under a current Collective Bargaining to walk off the job or strike.  Furthermore, nothing in this article should be read or understood as the union’s waiver of any legal argument, position, claim, or grievance(s), or as a waiver of any rights, arguments, or defenses under any contract, collective bargaining agreement, or applicable law.
