Union Settles Grievance for Great Lakes Coca-Cola Seniority Rights

| March 13, 2017

Teamsters Local 727 representatives recently resolved a grievance for part-time Great Lakes Coca-Cola Distribution members who were being denied their seniority privileges. The grievance was originally filed in July 2016 when the union was informed that full-time vacancies were not being posted and filled in seniority order.

Going forward GLCCD agreed that, pursuant to Article 14 of the CBA, management will post open vacancies and fill them pursuant to this language for both full-time and part-time employees.

“This is much-welcomed news for those members who have shown great loyalty and dedication to the company for their years of service,” said John T. Coli, Secretary-Treasurer of Local 727. “The purpose of the grievance procedure is to provide opportunities for the company to resolve issues brought by the union. The union is happy to see this issue resolved but stands ready to file more grievances to support its hardworking GLCCD members if other concerns arise in the future.”

Members with questions should contact Business Agent Caleen Carter-Patton at (847) 696-7500 or [email protected].

Nothing in this article should be read as the union’s waiver of any legal argument, position or additional grievance. The union does not forfeit its right to make any and all supplemental arguments.
