Local 727 Educational Assistance Fund Helps Participants and their Kids Get Through College

| February 2, 2018

The Teamsters Local 727 Legal and Educational Assistance Fund allocates funds each school year to provide reimbursements for participants, their spouses, and eligible dependents who are 27 or younger, are full-time college students at accredited colleges and universities and incur tuition and educational fee expenses. This year, the Trustees have allocated a total of $3 million for tuition reimbursements, mandatory educational fees and the cost of books.

Participants who submit a complete and timely application may receive up to $10,000 in reimbursements per year per student.

“It is incredible to see the impact this benefit has had on so many of our members and their families,” said John Coli Jr., Secretary-Treasurer of Local 727 and a Trustee for the Local 727 Benefit Funds. “We fought hard for it, and the results really speak for themselves.”

Note that in order to be eligible for the benefit, your contract must include the Legal and Educational Assistance Fund. Please check your CBA or contact your union business representative.

Applications will be available beginning May 15 and will be due on September 1. To receive an application, please call the Local 727 Benefits Funds office at (773) 685-0340.
