Union’s Proposed Valet Contract Guarantees Better, Expanded, More Affordable Healthcare Coverage

Following weeks of negotiations, Teamsters Local 727 representatives have succeeded in securing a new valet industry tentative collective bargaining agreement.

“Rising healthcare costs have placed a strain on the families of our hardworking valet members,” said John Coli, Jr., Secretary-Treasurer of Teamsters Local 727. “This new agreement will go a long way in easing that burden.”

The new three-year contract, which will now go to members for voting, includes the following provisions:

Wages
• Wage increases retroactive to July 1, 2018
• Current employees to receive a $0.40 raise annually for the life of the contract
• Non-tipped employees and new hires effected by the City of Chicago’s minimum wage ordinance will receive raises equivalent to the increase in minimum wage

Healthcare Benefits
• Absolutely ALL full-time valet members to be offered healthcare coverage
• Health insurance deductible cut in half, effective January 1, 2019
Vision care coverage reinstated

Other
• Additional sick/personal days (increased from 7 days to 8 days), effective January 1, 2021
• Enhanced protection and guarantee of employment for employees impacted by location changes
• Easier and more streamlined grievance procedure that enhances member protections
NO UNION CONCESSIONS WERE MADE in the negotiation of this tentative agreement

Term
• Three-year contract (July 1, 2018 – June 30, 2021)

Union Bargaining Committee Recommends You Vote “For Contract

The Tentative Agreement and ballots will be mailed to each eligible member for voting.  Ballots must be returned to the Local 727 Office no later than August, 14, 2018.
