Union and MV Chicago 135 Begin New Contract Negotiations On a Productive Note
Teamsters Local 727 and MV Transportation Chicago, Division 135 commenced negotiations for a new collective bargaining agreement on Monday, April 16, and Tuesday, April 17, 2018.
The Parties were able to reach tentative agreements on contract language that addresses facility relocation, new technology use by the Company, subcontracting work, and the timeline of red light ticket notices.
Local 727 also secured greater flexibility in the attendance policy, which will count up to five consecutive unexcused days as one occurrence. (Previously, up to three consecutive unexcused days were counted as one occurance.)
A tentative agreement was reached to add new language for employees to receive advanced notice on the expiration of driving credentials. The Company will provide correction notices three-weeks prior to expiration. Employees have until two days prior to expiration to update credentials before they will be placed on an unpaid administrative leave.
“This was a good start to negotiations as we were able to reach tentative agreements on many non-economic issues,” said John Coli Jr., Secretary-Treasurer of Local 727. “Much work lies ahead of us, however, and Local 727 is committed to securing the best possible terms that our members have demanded and deserve.”
All Union economic proposals remain outstanding. Some of the Union’s economic proposals include wages, PTO, vacation, and health benefits. Discussions on these key topics, along with bidding language, will continue on May 29, May 30, and May 31, 2018.
