Teamsters Local 727 Remembers Former Trustee Thomas J. Moriarty
It is with great sadness that Teamsters Local 727 announces the passing of Thomas J. “Tom” Moriarty at age 94.
Tom worked for over 50 years as a Trustee on the Teamsters Local 727 Benefit Funds and served as an honorable member of the U.S. Navy during World War II. Tom also served as the Executive Director of the long-time 727 represented Funeral Directors Services Association.
“Tom Moriarty started the Teamster Local 727 Health and Welfare and Pension Funds with my grandfather, James E Coli, more than 50 years ago. The Funds started paying benefits to funeral directors before it collected contributions and had negative assets, but through his hard work the funds are well funded with over 600 million in assets between them today providing great benefits for thousands of 727 families. He will be missed,” said John Coli, Jr. Secretary-Treasurer of Teamsters Local 727.
A copy of Tom’s obituary and service arrangements can be found below.
