Pepsi Teamsters Bargaining Committee Recommends Contract; Mail Ballots Sent This Week
Pepsi members at four Chicago-area facilities have the opportunity to vote on a new four-year contract, which the Teamsters Local 727 Bargaining Committee recommends for ratification.
“The company met us much more than halfway on many, many issues, such as merging the contracts and improving the grievance procedure. This is a much stronger contract than what the members have ever had,” said John T. Coli, Secretary-Treasurer of Local 727. “While we didn’t get everything we wanted when it comes to wages, it is still the richest contract ever negotiated with Pepsi.”

The contract now goes to a member vote. In order to maximize the number of employees voting, the ballot will be conducted via mail. Please note that Article 12 of the International Brotherhood of Teamsters Constitution states that if less than half of the eligible membership cast valid ballots, then a two-thirds (2/3) majority of those voting is required to reject the contract.
The union mailed ballots to Pepsi members on June 20.
Members will receive a copy of the company’s last, best and final offer, a comprehensive contract summary, a ballot and a stamped return envelope. Members can either vote “For Contract” to accept the company’s offer, or “For Strike.” To vote, mark the ballot, place it in the pre-paid envelope and drop it in the mail. Members are encouraged to return ballots as soon as possible to ensure they are counted.

Ballots must be received no later than 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday, July 5, 2016, to be counted. The ballot count will take place at 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday, July 5, 2016, at the local union meeting hall, 1300 W. Higgins Road, Suite 114, Park Ridge, IL 60068. Members are welcome to come and observe the ballot count.
