As Current Contract Expiration Looms, GLCCD Continues to Waste Time
The Teamsters Local 727 bargaining committee and representatives of Great Lakes Coca-Cola Distribution, Inc., a subsidiary of Reyes Holdings, met earlier today for a fifth day of collective bargaining. The parties opened the day’s bargaining session by reviewing all current outstanding non-economic proposals.
As the Union and management continued to work towards a single collective bargaining agreement covering all current GLCCD employees, Local 727 was successful in negotiating a tentative agreement that requires management to meet within six months of the ratification of a new CBA to develop fair testing requirements for A and B Mechanics.
After four days of bargaining, the Company finally admitted today that their proposal to change the payweek for production workers would, absurdly, make Sunday a straight-time day.
GLCCD management continues to hinder any momentum the Union attempts to make during negotiations by refusing to make any substantial movement and resubmitting current contract language in response to nearly all of the Union’s proposals.
“Management is sorely mistaken if it believes an agreement can be reached without substantial changes being made to current contract language, due to the Company’s abuse,” said John Coli, Jr., Secretary-Treasurer of Local 727. “Dr Pepper has already reached tentative agreements on nearly all non-economic issues while GLCCD has not been able to get its own act together. With only four scheduled meetings remaining, GLCCD better buckle-down and start making some substantive movement or an agreement will not be reached.”
All proposals will be revisited when the parties next meet on Thursday, March 28.
