Union Succeeds in Securing Backpay for Member Wrongfully Removed from Service

Teamsters Local 727 recently settled a grievance and secured backpay for a paratransit driver employed by MV Transportation who was unjustly removed from service.

In March 2018, the driver was removed from service for more than a week over an alleged incident that was ultimately meritless.  Immediately upon learning of the incident, Local 727 filed a grievance demanding the member be compensated for the time he was out of service.

Local 727’s persistence and determination in pursuing the grievance successfully resulted in the member being backpaid $750.00 by MV Transportation.

“When an investigation proves an employee has done nothing wrong, the employee should not be forced to suffer.  It is the Company who is responsible for the employee’s wrongful removal and it is the Company who must pay,” argued Local 727 Secretary-Treasurer John Coli, Jr.  “This Union will always stand up for members unjustly removed from service and will not relent until they receive what is right.”
