Teamsters Local 727 Pension Fund
In 2013, the Board of Trustees increased Teamsters Local 727 Pension Fund benefits for the first time since 2006. The Pension Fund honors pension credits up to 40 for retiring pension plan participants. Previously, a maximum of 30 credits were honored. Additionally, the Pension Fund has continually received “green zone” status certification and reached 100 percent funding in 2016.
Teamsters Local 727 Health & Welfare Fund
Thousands of Teamsters Local 727 members and their families have seen the benefits of the union’s health insurance wellness program, which is aimed at taking a proactive approach in order to detect health problems early and treat them before they worsen.
Plan participants’ coinsurance and prescription co-pays are reduced if eligible participants and their spouse complete a medical exam and submit an exam checklist.

Teamsters Local 727 Legal & Educational Assistance Fund
> Legal Assistance Benefit
Participants can receive up to 45 hours of free legal representation per year for matters such as real estate transactions, traffic offenses, and wills. The contracted benefit is provided at no cost to participants.
Illinois Advocates, LLC is the exclusive provider of legal representation for Local 727 Legal Assistance Benefit participants. The firm is located at 77 W. Washington Street, Suite 2120, Chicago, IL 60602. Their attorneys also are available to meet participants at their worksites, the Benefit Funds Office or the local union office.
> Educational Assistance Benefit
The Board of Trustees allocates funds each school year to provide tuition reimbursement for participants, their spouses or domestic partners, and all dependents under the age of 27 who are full-time college students at accredited colleges. In the past, participants have received up to $10,000 in tuition reimbursement per year. Participants also can receive up to $2,500 in tuition reimbursement per year for attending an accredited college on a part-time basis (12 or more semester hours). The contracted benefit is provided at no cost to participants who are working under a contract where the employer is obligated to contribute to the Legal & Educational Assistance Fund.
