Local 727 Makes Preparations for Parking Contract Negotiations

| August 25, 2016

Teamsters Local 727 representatives are hard at work preparing for upcoming contract negotiations on behalf of more than 3,000 commercial and residential parking industry members.

The current five-year Master Parking Agreement with more than 60 companies covering about 500 locations throughout the Greater Chicago area expires Oct. 31, 2016.

“The parking industry is vital to the health and success of our local union, as it has been for decades and decades,” said John Coli Jr., President of Local 727. “Five years ago during negotiations, our parking members stood strong alongside their Teamster brothers and sisters to help the union secure a fair contract, and that’s what we need to do again this time around.”

In 2011, Local 727 secured annual raises and employer-paid health insurance while fighting off parking employers’ demands for wage freezes, reduced paid time off and health insurance co-pays.

Local 727 business representatives also have begun gathering input from members to find out which issues are most important.

COMPLETE PARKING CONTRACT DEMANDS FORM

“The union’s top priority is to serve our members. Let your business representative know what matters most to you and your co-workers,” Coli said. “By working together, we can ensure that our parking members have another strong Teamster contract with the kinds of wages, benefits and working conditions they deserve.”

Teamsters Local 727 represents nearly 10,000 hardworking men and women in the Greater Chicago area.
