Teamsters Local 727 representatives have been hosting member appreciation cookouts this summer for the union’s ever-growing paratransit membership.

The cookouts kicked off June 15 with a gathering for CDT members at Union Park and continued June 23 at First Transit Chicago. The union also is scheduling future member appreciation events for MV Transportation workers.

“We wanted to take some extra time to show our paratransit members how much we appreciate the work they do in their communities and how proud we are to have them in our union family,” said John Coli Jr., President of Local 727.

Teamsters Local 727 also is working to organize SCR employees in order to continue raising the working standards in the paratransit industry.

Teamsters Local 727 represents nearly 10,000 hardworking men and women, including about 1,500 paratransit workers at CDT, First Transit and MV Transportation locations throughout the Greater Chicago area.
