Local 727 and SCI Move Closer to Agreement on New Contract
Representatives of Teamsters Local 727 and Service Corporation International moved closer to a new collective bargaining agreement in the latest round of negotiations held May 2, 2017. The previous agreement expired June 30, 2016.
Down from nine provisions after the last bargaining session, five provisions now remain outstanding:
- Wages
- Overtime after 8 hours/day
- Vacation, and the ability to carry-over days
- Legal & Educational assistance benefit
- Term of contract
“We stood firm in our arguments and did not concede any ground on these important provisions,” said John Coli Jr., President of Local 727. “Our members’ needs and interests come first, so no matter how many bargaining sessions we have to go though, 727 is committed to negotiating the best possible contract.”
The parties have agreed on the next bargaining session to take place on May 31, 2017, at FMCS in Hinsdale, IL.
