Paratransit Members Encouraged to Attend IBT Regional Meeting
Transit, School Bus Workers to Gather March 11-13 in Rosemont
All Teamsters Local 727 paratransit members are encouraged to attend the Teamsters School Bus & Transit Central Region Meeting March 11-13 at the Sheraton Chicago O’Hare Airport Hotel in Rosemont, Ill.
The free meeting is open to local union officials, stewards and rank-and-file members and will offer opportunities to learn more about the industry, get involved with ongoing campaigns and network with fellow members from other yards in the region.
“These meetings are important because they allow our members to come together and discuss the key issues with their counterparts from across the region,” said John Coli Jr., President of Local 727. “Our local union has some of the Teamsters Union’s largest paratransit contracts in the country, so our members’ input is incredibly valuable.”
Since 2010, Teamsters Local 727 has organized more than 1,100 paratransit workers at Cook DuPage Transportation, First Transit and MV Transportation locations throughout the Greater Chicago area.
This year marks the 10th anniversary of the Teamsters’ internationally coordinated school bus and transit organizing campaign. Since then, the union has organized more than 35,000 school bus and transit workers, and the Teamsters Union now represents over 75,000 school bus and transit workers — more than any other union.
The schedule for the Central Region Meeting is as follows:
- Friday, March 11
- 2:00-5:00 p.m. — Registration
- Saturday, March 12
- 8:00 a.m.-4:30 p.m. — Registration
- 9:00-10:30 a.m. — Opening General Session
- 10:30-12:00 p.m. — Breakout Session #1
- 12:00-1:30 p.m. — Lunch (on their own)
- 1:30-3:00 p.m. — Breakout Session #2
- 3:00-4:30 p.m. — Breakout Session #3
- 4:30-5:30 p.m. — General Session
- Sunday, March 13
- 8:00-9:00 a.m. — Registration
- 9:00-10:00 a.m. — General Session
- 10-11:30 a.m. — Breakout Session #4
- 11:30-12:30p.m. — Closing General Session
