After spending 12 hours in federal mediation Wednesday, the Teamsters Local 727 Bargaining Committee is no closer to reaching a fair agreement with Osco management on a new contract for about 500 Chicago-area pharmacists.
About 200 Pepsi workers joined members of the Teamsters Local 727 Bargaining Committee on Tuesday in the 35th Street break room to discuss the company’s last, best and final contract offer.
The Teamsters Local 727 Bargaining Committee and Osco management will enter federal mediation Wednesday, May 18, after the company agreed to the union’s offer to extend the pharmacists’ contract until 11:59 p.m. on Friday, May 20.
Since Teamsters Local 727 representatives began informing the public of the safety risks associated with CVS management’s mistreatment of overworked and understaffed Chicago-area pharmacists, the union has received an outpouring of support from pharmacists and CVS customers from across the country.
Teamster officers, representatives, stewards, rank-and-file members and retirees from across Joint Council 25 came together May 7 to arm themselves with knowledge to help the union continue to build political power.
