| April 22, 2016

Teamsters Local 727-represented parkers, starters and jockey valets at Arlington Racecourse unanimously ratified a new three-year contract on April 14.

The new agreement includes important job protections, such as minimum staffing requirements and maintenance of full-time benefits, along with wage increases and annual bonuses.

“The Teamsters have long been a champion of Illinois’ racing industry, and our hardworking track members make us proud,” said John Coli Jr., President of Local 727. “We are confident that despite recent bumps in the road, the industry will remain strong and vibrant for years to come.”

Local 727 represents about 50 Arlington Racecourse workers.

Arlington’s summer thoroughbred meet opens Friday, May 6, with live racing Friday-Sunday in May and June, and Thursday-Sunday in July, August and September.
