Union Welcomes 22 New Members from Non-Union GLCCD Locations
Twenty-two employees of Great Lakes Coca-Cola Distribution have recently become members of Teamsters Local 727. They were relocated from non-union GLCCD facilities in Portage, IN and Kankakee, IL to a Local 727-represented facility in Alsip, IL.
Their bargaining unit positions include drivers, merchandisers, OFS, relief, bulk and full-service. Local 727 represents GLCCD employees at two Alsip facilities, one facility in Niles, IL, and one facility in Chicago.
“Local 727 welcomes our new brothers and sisters into the Teamsters family and will work to make sure their transition to GLCCD bargaining unit members is as smooth as possible,” said John Coli Jr., Secretary-Treasurer of Local 727. “We look forward to getting to know them so that when contract negotiations approach, we will have a firm grasp on the issues most important to them.”
The 22 members are protected under the current four-year collective bargaining agreement for outside workers that expires April 30, 2019.
Local 727 represents more than 260 workers at the GLCCD Alsip facilities.
