Local 727 Members Welcome Cook County Circuit Court Clerk Candidate Richard Boykin at February Meeting
Secretary-Treasurer John Coli, Jr. updated Teamsters Local 727 members on the Union’s recent happenings during Local 727’s General Membership Meeting on February 23.
The membership was informed of the Union’s recent wins, including the NLRB’s issuing of a Summary Judgement against Keurig Dr Pepper, as well as updated on Local 727’s ongoing contract negotiations with Osco, CVS, and Pepsi.
Local 727 members also welcomed Richard Boykin, Candidate for Clerk of the Circuit Court of Cook County, who spoke about his passion for service, devotion to fairness and equality, and belief in the power of unity. While serving as a Cook County Commissioner, Boykin was an outspoken opponent of the Sugar Tax and, ultimately, provided one of the key votes to repealing the job-killing tax.
“When the hardworking men and women of Cook County, including our own beverage industry members, needed him, Richard Boykin had their back,” said Coli. “I urge all Local 727 members to have his back now.”
With primary elections approaching, Secretary-Treasurer Coli announced Local 727’s endorsement of Boykin during Sunday’s meeting, as well as the Union’s endorsement of a number of labor-friendly candidates running for public office. Click here to download Local 727’s endorsements.
“Union rights have increasingly been under attack. We cannot let this continue. We must work together to elect public officials who will support and fight for Illinois’ hardworking families,” said Coli. “I encourage all of our members to take to the polls this primary season and make your voices heard.”
