Local 727 Wins 3rd Representation Election in 3 Months, Welcomes MV-283 Drivers to Union

| May 22, 2019

Drivers employed by MV Transportation, Inc. 283 VA Division overwhelmingly voted in favor of union representation on Friday, June 17.  The group of nearly 40 paratransit drivers selected Teamsters Local 727 as their sole collective bargaining representative by a staggering 4:1 ratio, becoming the third bargaining unit in approximately three months to vote in favor of Local 727 representation.

“Local 727 couldn’t be happier to have so many new Brothers and Sisters joining our Teamster family this spring,” said John Coli, Jr., Secretary-Treasurer of Local 727.  “Welcome to MV-283 VA drivers and congratulations on this momentous occasion.”

The drivers of MV-283 VA Division are entrusted with safely transporting veterans in our communities across the Chicago area.  By overwhelmingly voting to join Local 727, they have bravely chosen to take a stand for respect, strong benefits, and fair pay.

After the National Labor Relations Board certifies the election results, Local 727 will begin the process of negotiating the first collective bargaining agreement covering MV-283 VA Division drivers.

“All Local 727 members stand ready to support you as you begin preparing for your very first contract negotiations,” added Coli.  “Rest assured, you will have the full might of Local 727 behind you as you take your next steps towards obtaining the strong, fair collective bargaining agreement you deserve.”

Local 727 also currently represents nearly 300 other MV employees operating out of the Company’s Chicago, North Cook, Westmont, and Loyola locations.  In total, Teamsters Local 727 represents more than 1,400 transit workers across Chicagoland.
