Wage Raises and Affordable Health Care Options are Coming to MV-135 Workers After Members Overwhelmingly Ratify Economic Agreement

| August 5, 2019

On Friday, MV Transportation, Inc. drivers, dispatchers, reservationists, schedulers, and payroll clerks servicing the MV Chicago 135 Division overwhelmingly voted in favor of ratifying the terms of the wages and health care reopener secured by Teamsters Local 727 last month.

Under the newly ratified agreement, all eligible Local 727 members will receive a $0.50 wage increase effective April 1, 2020.  This increase will be in addition to the annual anniversary raises previously negotiated by the Union and included in the current MV-135 collective bargaining agreement.

The ratified economic agreement also contains significant health care improvements, including a reduction in the eligibility waiting period for health care coverage from 6 months to 60 days of employment for new hires.  Additionally, effective January 1, 2020, two affordable health care options will be available to MV-135 employees, a High Deductible Plan and a Buy-Up Plan, which will help to ease the burden of health care costs from members’ shoulders.

“Less than a year ago, our MV-135 members stood together, prepared and ready to initiate an unfair labor practice strike.  With Local 727 behind them, our members said enough is enough and demanded respect from their employer.  The strong economic terms ratified today are a direct result of that solidarity,” said John Coli, Jr., Secretary-Treasurer of Local 727.  “When we stand together, this Union has the power to secure the fair wages and health care our hardworking Brothers and Sisters deserve.”
