Union Settles Grievance, Removes Discipline and Restores Pay for CDT Part-Time Customer Service Reps

| January 12, 2018

Cook-DuPage Transportation did not give sick/personal days for part-time customer service employees in violation of the collective bargaining agreement. As a result of CDT’s contract violation, members were unjustly disciplined for absences and not paid for absences up to five days during 2017.

Local 727 immediately contested CDT’s actions, filed a grievance, and is happy to report that it has obtained a settlement whereby CDT agreed to remove any unjust disciplines that were issued, as well as pay all part-time employees for their lost sick/personal days. Additionally, part-time customer service representatives will continue to receive their sick/personal days going forward.

“This settlement is a huge win for our members,” said John Coli Jr., Secretary-Treasurer of Local 727. “Any violation of the CBA’s wages, benefits or working conditions is our top priority and the Union will not rest until the Company honors the contract.”

Local 727 would like to thank the CDT employees who spoke up and informed the Union, and encourages any employee with any questions about the above or about any other outstanding grievances to please reach out to your business representative, Donnie Von Moore, at (773) 403-1032 or [email protected].

Nothing in this article should be read as the union’s waiver of any legal argument, position or additional grievance. The union does not forfeit its right to make any and all supplemental arguments.
