Union and First Transit DuPage Reach Tentative Agreement

| September 15, 2017

After several rounds of negotiations, Teamsters Local 727 and First Transit DuPage were able to reach a tentative agreement on a new contract. The proposed three-year agreement represents the best contract First Transit DuPage members have ever had. It includes significant wage increases over the life of the contract, enhanced seniority privileges, and improved working conditions.

All members will receive a minimum $1.65/hour up to a $2.30/hour wage incease immediately that is retroactive to August 1, 2017, based on years of service. Virtually all employees will get a further $0.40/hour wage increase on their employment anniversary date and a $0.75/hour wage increase each anniversary after that. By the end of the contract, each employee will receive a minimum increase to wages of $3.25/hour or more during the life of the agreement, based on seniority.

Also, full-time employees with eight or more years of seniority will receive a week of additional vacation, for a total of three weeks. In addition to the wage increases outlined above, the Company will provide each employee with a reasonably warm winter coat and will pay for (or reimburse) each employee for any and all motor vehicle registrations.

“The prior 18-month extension proved vital to the Union’s ability in reaching this strong deal,” said John Coli Jr., Secretary-Treasurer of Local 727. “I want to thank the committee for standing its ground and securing the richest contract ever for First Transit DuPage members.”

A date for the contract ratification vote is pending.
