SCI Ratifies New Four-Year Contract

| August 21, 2017

Teamsters Local 727 members employed by Service Corporation International ratified a new four-year contract that retroactively started on July 1, 2016 and expires on June 30, 2020. The Local 727 bargaining committee was able to successfully combat the company’s 95 separate contract proposals to preserve many important provisions that are vital to the membership.

Among the provisions the Union was able to secure were the preservation of the grievance and arbitration procedure and just cause disciplinary standards. Local 727 was also able to preserve pay rates that management wanted to reduce. The agreement includes an initial 2% pay increase and four-plus months of retroactive pay. Wages will rise by a minimum of 4% over the term of the agreement.

“It’s greatly satisfying to see the Union provide stability and security to its members,” said John Coli, Jr., Secretary-Treasurer of Local 727. “I commend our bargaining team for their perseverance through many tough rounds of negotiations and for maintaining the hard-fought contract provisions that SCI was trying to take away.”
