Local 727 Gears Up for Negotiations with Dr Pepper

| January 29, 2019

In just a few short weeks, Teamsters Local 727 will return to the negotiating table and begin bargaining once again with the American Bottling Company, a subsidiary of Keurig Dr Pepper, Inc.  The parties will meet to negotiate a successor collective bargaining agreement for all Inside Dr Pepper workers, including production, maintenance, warehouse, and vending service employees.

In order to prepare for the upcoming negotiations, Local 727 will be hosting two meetings in the Union’s Park Ridge Meeting Hall to discuss Inside Dr Pepper members’ contract demands and the upcoming negotiations.  All Inside Dr Pepper members are STRONGLY encouraged to attend one of the follow Contract Demands Meetings:

Saturday Demands Meeting

Date: Saturday, February 9, 2019

Time: 10:00 a.m. — 11:30 a.m.

Location: Local 727 Meeting Hall, 1300 W. Higgins Rd., Suite 114, Chicago, IL 60068

Sunday Demands Meeting

Date: February 10, 2019

Time: 1:00 p.m. — 2:30 p.m.

Location: Local 727 Meeting Hall, 1300 W. Higgins Rd., Suite 114, Chicago, IL 60068

“The strength and power of this Union comes from the participation of our membership.  I encourage all Inside Dr Pepper members to come out to one of the Contract Demands Meetings and let us know what you need and want from your next collective bargaining agreement,” said John Coli, Jr., Local 727 Secretary-Treasurer.

Local 727 and Dr Pepper last met for negotiations in July 2018.  Following a 40-day unfair labor practice strike by nearly 150 Outside Dr Pepper employees, the Union bargaining committee and Company representatives ultimately reached an agreement which increased wages and paid sick days, and nearly doubled employees’ pension accruals.

“We hope Dr Pepper has learned from the past and approaches these negotiations more wisely,” added Coli.  “Local 727 will always stand behind our members.  As Dr Pepper has seen firsthand, this Union does not give-in.  We will continue to fight until our members receive a fair and just collective bargaining agreement.”

The current collective bargaining agreement covering Inside workers of the American Bottling Company will expire on April 30, 2019.
