Local 727 Files Unfair Labor Charges Against Coca-Cola Refreshments for Unlawful Delay in Processing Grievances

| February 17, 2017

For months, Local 727 has been awaiting Step One responses to numerous grievances from Coca-Cola. In addition to this unexplained delay, Coke also recently refused to process grievances and abruptly ended previously scheduled grievance meetings. As a result of these actions, Teamsters Local 727 has filed an unfair labor practice charge against Coca-Cola Refreshments (CCR) for its unlawful refusal to process numerous grievances filed on behalf of local Teamster members.

“The Union made clear to CCR during negotiations that grievances need to be processed in a speedy manner,” said John Coli Jr., President of Local 727. “Coke should be embarrassed by its attempt to avoid its contractual obligations. The Union will not be deterred by Coke’s actions and will continue to file grievances and fight Coke every step of the way.”

The union will keep members informed on this issue as it progresses. Anyone with questions should contact Local 727 Business Representative Caleen Carter-Patton at (847) 696-7500 or via email at [email protected].

Nothing in this article should be read as the union’s waiver of any legal argument, position or additional grievance. The union does not forfeit its right to make any and all supplemental arguments.
