Local 727 Files Charge Against GLCCD General Manager for Threatening Statements

| April 11, 2019

This week, Teamsters Local 727 filed charges against Great Lakes Coca-Cola Distribution, Inc. after General Manager Steve Zulanas allegedly made threatening statements to Union members.  The charges are now pending with the National Labor Relations Board.

Zulanas’ statements are an unpleasant reminder of the attempted intimidation Coca-Cola members were forced to endure when Local 727 last negotiated a new collective bargaining agreement with Coca-Cola Refreshments USA.

“Following in CCR’s footsteps is no way to reach an agreement,” said Local 727 Secretary-Treasurer John Coli, Jr.  “Mr. Zulanas’ actions are reprehensible.  GLCCD should be ashamed of the behavior of their senior staff and immediately take action to ensure such behavior is never repeated.”

Local 727 and GLCCD currently have one final bargaining session scheduled for Tuesday, April 23.  The current CBAs covering all GLCCD employees, including former CCR workers, are set to expire on April 30.

Members with questions should contact Local 727 Business Representative Caleen Carter-Patton at (847) 696-7500 or [email protected].
