Coca-Cola to Reimburse Affected Members of Tobacco Premiums

| June 29, 2017

The union filed a grievance as a result of tobacco premiums that Coca-Cola charged members in 2016 in violation of the collective bargaining agreement.

Due to the union’s efforts, within the next 21 days Coca-Cola will pay all current employees who were affected by the premium surcharge a reimbursement of 85% of the premium they were charged in 2016.

“This was a hard-fought victory for the union,” said John Coli, Jr., President of Teamsters Local 727. “It was important that members receive some reimbursement for these unexpected surcharges.”

Any member who believes they were affected and does not receive payment by July 19, 2017, should contact their respective business representative. Caleen Carter-Patton represents Coca-Cola Niles and can be reached at (847) 696-7500 or [email protected]. Mike DeGard represents Coca-Cola Alsip and can be reached at (847) 696-7500 or [email protected].
