United We Rise

Corporate billionaires are trying to mislead the public into thinking Unions and the labor movement are no longer necessary.  The Pew Research Center released a study earlier this month that indicates the efforts of these Big Business bullies have fallen short.

The study found that the majority of Americans have a favorable impression of unions and view the decline of unions negatively saying it “has been mostly bad for working people.”

According to the survey data, the future is bright for the labor movement as 68% of millennials (ages 18-29) view unions positively, with 56% seeing the decline in union numbers as bad for workers.

This study shows Americans of all ages, races, and educational backgrounds overwhelmingly see the value of unions.  Despite the corporate “War on Workers,” Americans across the board recognize the labor movement raises the standard of living for hardworking men and women by securing higher pay and affordable health care benefits for workers.

In fact, the average union worker makes $11,000 more a year than the average non-union worker.  Additionally, 94% of union workers in the private-sector have access to employer-provided health care benefits, as compared to only 67% of their non-union counterparts.

Unions fight for fair wages, strong benefits, and safe working conditions for members and their families.

No matter the Supreme Court decision in “Janus v. AFSCME,” when we stand united we are a force for change.

Nothing in this article should be read as the union’s waiver of any legal argument, position or grievance. The union does not forfeit its right to make any and all supplemental arguments.
