Richest Contract in the Paratransit Location’s History

First Transit DuPage Pace drivers voted to ratify a new contract. The new three-year agreement represents the richest contract ever achieved for the 27 Teamsters Local 727 members at the DuPage facility. It includes significant wage increases over the life of the contract, enhanced seniority privileges, and improved working conditions.

An 18-month extension that Local 727 negotiated prior to this contract proved essential in securing the favorable terms that allowed bargaining to successfully occur.

The new agreement includes the following provisions:

  • All employees received a minimum $1.65/hour up to a $2.30/hour wage increase immediately that was retroactive to August 1, 2017, based on years of service.
  • Virtually all employees will get a further $0.40/hour wage increase on their employment anniversary date and a $0.75/hour wage increase each anniversary after that.
  • By the end of the contract, each employee receives a minimum increase to wages of $3.25/hour or more during the life of the agreement, based on seniority.
  • Full-time employees with eight or more years of seniority also received a week of additional vacation, for a total of three weeks.
  • In addition to the wage increases, the Company will provide each employee with a reasonably warm winter coat and will pay for (or reimburse) each employee for any and all motor vehicle registrations.

“I’d like to congratulate the Local 727 bargaining committee for its help in securing such a strong contract,” said John Coli Jr., Secretary-Treasurer of Local 727.
