Unfair Labor Practices Under Investigation Against Buddy’s Parking

| August 25, 2017

Teamsters Local 727 recently filed three unfair labor practice charges against Buddy’s Parking. The charges were filed as a result of Buddy’s refusal to bargain over the effects of its alleged permanent layoff of union employees at 2 E. Oak St. in Chicago, its refusal to process grievances, and its refusal to provide information to the Union.

“If Buddy’s Parking management thinks they can somehow ignore the Union, they are sorely mistaken,” said John Coli, Jr., Secretary-Treasurer of Local 727. “Local 727 will not hesitate to involve the National Labor Relations Board when companies like Buddy’s Parking deploy these methods.”

This is not the first time the Union has filed charges against Buddy’s. In fact, just last year, Region 13 found that Buddy’s violated the National Labor Relations Act when it refused to bargain in good faith with the Union by unilaterally refusing to remit dues and refusing to provide information. In that case, Buddy’s was ordered to “make the Union whole.”

Nothing in this article should be read as the union’s waiver of any legal argument, position or additional grievance. The union does not forfeit its right to make any and all supplemental arguments.
