Union bargaining committee recommends members vote ‘IN FAVOR’ of the CBAs

On Thursday, June 6, Teamsters Local 727 trade show industry members voted in favor of a 401(k) retirement plan in the tentatively agreed upon Master Trade Show Industry, Freeman Warehouse, and G.E.S. Warehouse collective bargaining agreements.

The 401(k) Plan is a defined contribution plan which requires Trade Show Contractors to pay $6.50 per hour worked for trade show members and $5.00 per hour worked for warehouse members into the Plan.

There will not be an annual vesting requirement for the retirement plan; however, the 401(k) Plan will require members work a minimum of 200 hours to qualify.  Additionally, the Plan will require Trade Show Contractors to make an initial contribution to seed each retirement account in an effort to offset the 24 months of Central States reductions at age 65.

In addition to the introduction of the 401(k) Plan, the final tentative five-year agreements also include the withdrawal of Trade Show Contractors from the failing Central States Pension Fund, a large increase in hourly wage rates, and the preservation of the 2-man crew system.

Local 727 will have complete copies of the tentative agreements available for members to review prior to each ratification vote listed below.  Members will have the opportunity to either cast their ballot in favor of ratifying the contract or against the contract and in favor of initiating a strike.  The Union has scheduled the ratification votes on the below dates.  Local 727 will update members as soon as additional vote details have been confirmed for the Master Trade Show Industry CBA ratification vote.

Freeman Warehouse CBA Ratification Vote – June 18 at 5:30p.m. in the Freeman Warehouse
G.E.S. Warehouse CBA Ratification Vote – June 20 at 2:00p.m. in the G.E.S. Warehouse

“Local 727 is proud to have successfully negotiated three strong tentative agreements that not only raise wages for our hardworking members, but also provide trade show workers with a secure retirement,” said John Coli, Jr., Secretary-Treasurer of Local 727.
