Special Message From Secretary-Treasurer John Coli, Jr. Regarding CO-VID19

| March 13, 2020

Dear Brothers and Sisters,

During this time of uncertainty, I want to reach out about CO-VID19. Our brotherhood is the heart of this Union, and our work is the thread that connects us all. We represent thousands of members across dozens of industries; from paratransit to pharmacy, to soda tradeshow and the Brookfield Zoo, our members are the face of their employers to thousands of members of the public every day. Your safety is my number one concern.

Teamsters Local 727 will continue to monitor the situation and keep members updated as needed. As the CDC, OSHA, Federal, State, and City Governments come out with work standards and recommendations, the Union will work with employers to ensure our members’ safety and livelihood is the number one priority. I wanted to remind you of the CDC’s recommendations[1] to protect yourself from CO-VID19:

  • Wash your hands frequently with soap and water for 20 seconds
  • Seek medical care when feeling ill
  • Disinfect frequently touched surfaces
  • Cover coughs and sneezes. Avoid touching your eyes, nose ,or mouth
  • Avoid contact with people who are ill

Business Agents will be reaching out to employers about what they are doing to address the current pandemic and will keep members updated as information becomes available.

If you have any questions or concerns, please call your Business Agent at (847) 696-7500.

In solidarity,

John Coli, Jr.
