PPO Health Care Plan and Raises to Come to Reyes Mechanics After New Bargaining Unit Overwhelmingly Ratifies First Contract

| October 21, 2019

Mechanics employed by Reyes Fleet Management, a subsidiary of Reyes Holdings, LLC., overwhelmingly ratified a new collective bargaining agreement on Saturday, October 19.  The recently ratified four-year agreement, which is set to expire on October 28, 2023, is the first contract for the workers, who voted in favor of joining Teamsters Local 727 earlier this year.

Among the top achievements of the Teamsters Local 727 bargaining committee was the successful negotiation of a PPO health care plan option for workers and their families.  On day one of negotiations, the Union made it clear to Reyes representatives that health care improvements were a top priority for the new bargaining unit.  After months of negotiations, the Union bargaining committee not only succeeded in securing the PPO option, but also in securing a “Most Favored Nations” clause, which guarantees that mechanics’ premiums would be lowered if another Reyes employee were ever to be offered a better health care premium rate.

In addition to health care improvements, the Local 727 bargaining committee was also able to secure a $500 ratification bonus and 3% annual wage raises for all workers.  Additionally, under the new contract, Reyes Fleet Management will be required to match 50% of mechanics’ contributions to the Company’s 401(k) retirement plans, up to 10%.

“Congratulations to our Reyes Brothers on ratifying their first contract.  This strong agreement is a prime example of what Union solidarity can achieve,” said John Coli, Jr., Secretary-Treasurer of Local 727.  “Local 727 looks forward to continuing to represent Reyes mechanics and to fighting to improve workplace standards for all of our members.”
