SCR Rally | Oct. 7, 2015

Teamsters Local 727 brought together SCR paratransit drivers on Oct. 7 for a cookout and organizing rally as the workers gain momentum in their quest to form a union.

Teamsters from across Joint Council 25 joined Local 727 representatives and paratransit workers already represented by the union on a lovely fall afternoon to allow SCR workers to ask questions and build solidarity.

“It’s incredibly important that these workers understand fully what it means to be in a union, so we want to be open and honest and provide as many opportunities as possible for them to get all the information they need to make an informed decision,” said John Coli Jr., President of Local 727.

Teamsters Local 727 represents more than 9,000 hardworking men and women, including about 1,100 paratransit drivers, garage attendants, dispatchers, schedulers, customer service representatives and mechanics at CDT, MV Transportation and First Transit facilities throughout the Chicago area.

Local 727 also is an affiliate of Teamsters Joint Council 25, America’s premier labor union for Chicago, Illinois and northwest Indiana.
