On September 24, 2017, a new Executive Board for Teamsters Local 727 was sworn in by Stuart Davidson of Willig, Williams & Davidson. The new Executive Board includes Secretary-Treasurer John Coli Jr., President Curt Ziedrich, Vice President Darryl Poelinitz, Recording Secretary William Coli, Trustee Anthony (Tony) Wendel, Trustee Patrice Jefferson, and Trustee Jose Delgado.

“I’m proud and honored to be a Trustee on the Executive Board,” said Delgado, a Dr. Pepper steward. “I look forward to serving and representing the rank and file members.”

Over the summer, Local 727 negotiated and ratified new contracts with Arlington Program Sellers, Czarnowski Display Service, Fleischmann’s Vinegar, First Transit DuPage, FDSA, Hinckley, Metropolitan Pier & Expo Traffic, Quala Wash, Service Corporation International (SCI), and Standard Parking Shuttle Division. The union also has several ongoing contract negotiations, arbitrations, and unfair labor practices pending against employers.

“This has been an incredibly busy and productive summer for Local 727,” said Secretary-Treasurer John Coli, Jr. “We’ve completed more negotiations during these past several months than many other unions complete in a year. I want to thank the business agents and legal department for all their hard work and commitment.”

The meeting was also an occasion to celebrate the retirement of two long-serving and beloved employees and Executive Board members – Floyd Hughes and Zeberdee Barnes. Floyd and Zeb together have more than 80 years of service to Local 727. Floyd has been a member of Local 727 for more than 25 years, spending the past 15 as a Trustee, an employed representative, and, most recently, as President. Meanwhile, Zeb has been a member for nearly 60 years, serving as an employed representative, Trustee, Recording Secretary, Vice President and President of Local 727.

“Floyd and Zeb are exemplary individuals who have been instrumental to the growth of this union,” said Secretary-Treasurer Coli. “They’ll always be welcome here.”

Following the meeting, members were treated to an outdoor barbecue lunch where free school supplies were handed out to members’ children.

The next general membership meeting will be held at noon on Sunday, October 29, 2017, at the Local 727 meeting hall, 1300 W. Higgins Road, Suite 114, Park Ridge, IL. Free flu shots will be available at the meeting, provided by Teamster member and Osco steward Laura Lucafo.
