Parking Members to Receive Additional Sick/Personal Day

| October 22, 2015

Teamsters Local 727-represented parking members soon will receive an additional sick/personal day, per the collective bargaining agreement.

According to Article 12 of the contract, full-time and part-time members under the commercial parking contract will receive an additional sick/personal day to use between Nov. 1-Dec. 31. Starting Jan. 1, they will receive nine total sick/personal days for 2016, an increase from eight days.

“The success and productivity of our members on the job is tied to their ability to properly care for themselves and their families,” said John Coli Jr., President of Local 727. “Adequate sick leave benefits both an employer and its employees, and the union fought to secure this essential benefit.”

If members do not use all of their sick/personal days by Dec. 31, their employer shall pay them the value of the unused sick/personal days.

The current five-year contract expires Oct. 31, 2016.

Teamsters Local 727 represents more than 9,000 hardworking men and women, including nearly 3,000 parking industry members at locations throughout the Chicago area.
