MV Division 422 Drivers and Aides are Second Unit in 2019 to Overwhelmingly Vote to Join Local 727

| April 16, 2019

On Friday, MV Transportation, Inc. drivers and aides servicing the MV Chicago 422 CPS Division voted to join Teamsters Local 727 by a staggering 2:1 ratio.

The drivers and aides of MV Division 422 are responsible for the safe transportation of children with special needs to and from Chicago public schools.  By overwhelmingly voting in favor of Teamster representation, the unit of more than 100 hardworking men and women have taken a stand for dignity and fair wages.

The MV Division 422 drivers and aides are the second group in the past two months to elect Local 727 as their sole collective bargaining representative.  Mechanics employed by Reyes Fleet Management, a subsidiary of Reyes Holdings, LLC., also voted for Teamsters Local 727 representation this past March.

“Welcome to our newest MV members,” said John Coli, Jr., Secretary-Treasurer of Local 727.  “Each day you are entrusted with safely transporting some of the most vulnerable children in our communities.  This victory is the first step towards ensuring your hard work receives the recognition, fair pay, strong benefits, and respect it so rightfully deserves.  All of Local 727 is ready to stand and fight for you and beside you on the path towards your first collective bargaining agreement.”

After the National Labor Relations Board certifies the election results, Local 727 will begin the process of negotiating a first contract for the MV Division 422 drivers and aides.

Local 727 also currently represents more than 270 other MV employees operating out of the Company’s Chicago, North Cook, Westmont, and Loyola locations.  In total, Teamsters Local 727 represents more than 1,300 transit workers across Chicagoland.
