Teamsters Local 727 representatives hosted member appreciation cookouts this summer for the union’s fast-growing paratransit membership.

The cookouts kicked off June 15 with a gathering for CDT members at Union Park and continued through the summer at First Transit and MV Transportation locations. Local 727’s final paratransit cookout of 2016 is scheduled for Sept. 20 at MV Transportation Chicago.

“These events have been a great success,” said John Coli Jr., President of Local 727. “We wanted to show our paratransit members that their hard work is appreciated and to give them an opportunity to bond with their union brothers and sisters. We are to have them in our union family.”

Teamsters Local 727 also is finalizing first contracts for paratransit workers at MV Transportation Loyola and North Cook while working to organize SCR employees in order to continue raising the working standards in the paratransit industry.

Teamsters Local 727 represents 10,000 hardworking men and women, including about 1,500 paratransit drivers, customer service representatives, dispatchers and mechanics at CDT, First Transit and MV Transportation locations throughout the Greater Chicago area.
