Local 727 Pepsi Bargaining Committee Finalizes Preparations; Negotiations Set to Begin March 22

| March 21, 2016

The Teamsters Local 727 Bargaining Committee has finalized its preparations for contract negotiations with Pepsi management, which are set to begin March 22.

The Local 727 Bargaining Committee — composed of Pepsi stewards, union representatives and attorneys — met for the third time on March 17 to finalize the union’s initial proposal, which is based on member demands gathered by the union during site visits and a demands meeting at the union hall on Feb. 7.

Throughout the preparation process, Pepsi stewards from each location had the opportunity to voice concerns and provide important feedback in order to arrive at a complete, comprehensive contract proposal that best reflects the membership’s wishes. This is the first time members from all four locations will be in the same room during contract negotiations.

“We have assembled an incredibly strong and united team of dedicated stewards, experienced union reps and skilled attorneys to represent our members’ best interests at the bargaining table,” said John T. Coli, Secretary-Treasurer of Local 727. “Everyone understands what is on the line and that in order to be successful, we must stand together with one voice, and that’s what we have committed to doing.”

The Local 727 Bargaining Committee will begin contract negotiations with Pepsi management on March 22, with additional meetings scheduled for March 24, April 18, April 20, April 22 and April 28. The current contracts covering about 600 workers at four locations expire at midnight on April 28.
