Local 727 Obtains Reinstatement and Back-Pay for Unjustly Laid Off Edward Hotel Workers

| October 26, 2017

Five Edward Hotel (formerly Holiday Inn Express O’Hare Rosemont) shuttle bus drivers were returned to work after being unjustly laid off because of an alleged revocation of Edward Hotel’s Department of Transportation registration. Just like it did in August, Teamsters Local 727 acted immediately upon learning of the layoff and filed an unfair labor practice charge with the National Labor Relations Board.

As with the previous ULP, Local 727’s swift action resulted in a successful outcome for the members. Pursuant to the Union’s settlement, all the drivers were reinstated with full back-pay and union benefits for the layoff period.

“Edward Hotel management didn’t seem to learn its lesson from last time, but we are happy to teach it to them again,” said John Coli Jr., Secretary-Treasurer of Local 727. “The Union will not back down from a fight to reinstate unjustly laid off members. The Company can’t unilaterally lay off all of its employees without expecting to receive a response from Local 727.”

Members with questions should contact Local 727 Business Representative Ben Rodriguez at (847) 696-7500 or [email protected].
