Local 727 Fights to Enforce MV-Batavia Wage Raises, Wins Backpay for Members

| February 27, 2020

Earlier this month, Teamsters Local 727 discovered that MV Transportation, Inc. failed to properly raise the wage rates for several MV-Batavia members following the ratification of the group’s new collective bargaining agreement.  Immediately upon learning that multiple drivers were not receiving the hourly wage rate for an employee of their seniority, Local 727 filed a grievance on behalf of all MV-Batavia members demanding the Company correct its error and abide by the terms of the signed contract.

The Union is pleased to report that MV management has acknowledged its mistake and agreed to immediately raise members’ hourly wage rates and make whole all affected members.  The higher wage rates will be retroactive to the contract’s ratification date, December 17, 2019, or to a member’s anniversary date following the ratification.  Members who were improperly paid will receive their owed backpay in their March 6 paycheck.

“Local 727 will not stand idly by while an employer violates a signed contract.  We will fight to protect our members and enforce our CBAs,” said John Coli, Jr., Secretary-Treasurer of Local 727.  “MV-Batavia members work hard every day to provide the best possible service to their customers.  We are proud to count them among our Teamster Brothers and Sisters and look forward to continuing to represent them.”
