Hard-Won Benefits for Coca-Cola Refreshments Members Rolling Out Soon

| March 11, 2016

Workers Can Learn About Benefits During Meetings Next Week

Teamsters Local 727-represented Coca-Cola Refreshments members next week will have opportunities to learn about their new health insurance and 401(k) benefits, which were secured in their new contract.

The new three-year contract — which warehouse and production workers in Niles and Alsip overwhelmingly ratified Jan. 10 following a 27-day unfair labor practice strike — transfers Local 727 members into a new health and welfare plan previously available to Coca-Cola management. The health care improvements translate to significant out-of-pocket cost savings for workers. Additionally, a new 401(k) retirement plan has been established, and Coca-Cola will match 50 percent of worker contributions up to 10 percent of any given worker’s total income.

“Our members fought hard for these benefits, and we want to ensure they are able to take full advantage of them,” said John Coli Jr., President of Local 727.

Benefits meetings for members are scheduled as follows:

Niles (in HR training room)

  • 5 a.m., Monday, March 14
  • 5 a.m., Thursday, March 17
  • 6 a.m. and 2 p.m., Friday, March 18

Alsip (in employee break room)

  • 7:30 a.m. and 4 p.m., Monday, March 14

NOTE: Date/time for weekend crew meeting(s) to be determined.

If members have questions, they should contact Local 727 business representative Vincent Blanco at (847) 696-7500 or [email protected].
