Funeral Directors Take Advantage of Union’s Free Spring CE Seminar

| May 5, 2017

Teamsters Local 727 funeral directors learned about federal mediation and conciliation service, Nova Care, estate planning, embalming a diabetes case, and the proper treatment of tissue restoration during the union’s semi-annual continuing education seminar held on Wednesday, May 3, at the Union Hall in Park Ridge.

Local 727 offered the program free of charge to members in good standing, and funeral directors in attendance earned a total of six CE hours toward their required 24 hours during every two-year period.

The union also certifies attendance for the Illinois Funeral Director/Embalmers and maintains those records.

“Each year, we get input from members on what topics would help them most, and we make every effort to accommodate those needs,” said John Coli Jr., President of Local 727. “We’re proud to be able to offer these seminars to our members at no cost so that they can receive the necessary education to better serve their communities.”

The local union plans to hold a free seminar again in the fall. Members are encouraged to share their ideas for topics to be covered with their Local 727 business representatives.
