| June 28, 2017

The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) has ordered The American Bottling Company dba Dr. Pepper Snapple Group to correct safety violations and pay a corresponding penalty of $25,350.

The company was cited for two violations. Per the first violation, the employer did not ensure that an energy control procedure was utilized for the control of hazardous energy when an employee was unjamming a pallet near the palletizer’s hoist area. The second violation was for not providing adequate training to ensure that all employees unjamming pallets at the palletizers acquired the knowledge and skills required for the safe application, usage, and removal of energy control devices.

“Member safety is of the utmost importance,” said John Coli Jr., President of Teamsters Local 727. “The union will see this through to ensure Dr. Pepper Snapple Group complies with all OSHA requirements.”

Dr. Pepper Snapple Group has until July 13, 2017 for the violations to be abated.

Local 727 represents more than 500 workers at the soft drink bottling company located in Northlake, IL.
