Coca-Cola to Reimburse More Members Affected by the 2016 Tobacco Premium

| September 12, 2017

In June, Teamsters Local 727 reported that it filed a grievance as a result of tobacco premiums that Coca-Cola charged members in 2016 in violation of the collective bargaining agreement. Because of Local 727’s efforts, Coca-Cola paid an 85% reimbursement of the 2016 premium surcharge to affected members.

The Union recently discovered, however, that some members who should have received payment pursuant to the settlement, did not. Local 727 was swift in resolving this issue by bringing it to Coke’s attention so members could be paid immediately. As a result, a second payment was issued to all members on September 1.

Any member who was charged a 2016 tobacco premium and did not receive reimbursement on July 19 or September 1, 2017, should contact their business representative, Caleen Carter-Patton. Caleen can be reached at (847) 696-7500 or [email protected].
