Union, Management Set to Return to Bargaining Table July 28
Osco pharmacists overwhelmingly rejected the company’s contract offer by a more than 3-to-1 margin.
The mail ballot count was held July 5 at Teamsters Local 727’s meeting hall in Park Ridge, with several Osco pharmacists present. The final tally was 229-67 against contract, which also marked the highest voter turnout in the bargaining unit’s history.
“I am so incredibly proud of our pharmacists and our Bargaining Committee,” said John T. Coli, Secretary-Treasurer of Local 727. “Osco management thought that pharmacists would take whatever the company offered, but you have proven them wrong. You sent a message that you are united, you are strong and you deserve to be treated with dignity and respect.”
This vote was not a strike vote and was only a vote to accept or reject the company’s last offer. The Local 727 Bargaining Committee informed Osco management of the vote results, and the sides have agreed to return to the bargaining table on July 28.
The union will continue to update members.
