With mediation set to resume today, the Teamsters Local 727 Bargaining Committee is still waiting for Osco management to make reasonable movement in order to reach a fair agreement before the contract extension for about 500 Chicago-area pharmacists expires at midnight.
The sides met with a federal mediator for 12 hours Wednesday. No progress was made, and no substantive tentative agreements were reached. The Local 727 Bargaining Committee made movement on several outstanding issues, but once again, the company did not respond in kind.
“We have been striving to reach middle ground and find solutions, but the company refuses to reciprocate,” said John T. Coli, Secretary-Treasurer of Local 727. “We want to make progress, but they only want to make demands and ignore pharmacists’ concerns. Time is running out for Osco to do the right thing.”
Local 727 also filed unfair labor practice charges against Osco with the National Labor Relations Board, including their refusal to comply with the union’s request for all information regarding misfills.
The union will continue to update pharmacists as mediation continues today.
